MOBILE PHONES: Don't forget to switch mobile phones to flight mode a kilometre from the telescope. A Mobile Phone emits powerful radio bursts, even when not in use!!! These signals are collected by the dish and enter one of the most sensitive receivers in the world. This contaminates the data from the receiver that is listening to objects many light years away.

The Dish cafe is at an exceptional location at the base of the world famous Parkes DISH. It features a 2-storey glass outlook allowing for uninterrupted views of the Radio Telescope as it tunes into the universe.

The Dish cafe provides a welcome retreat for travellers on the Newell Highway between Dubbo and Parkes or travelling between the central and far west of NSW. Only 20kms north of Parkes and just off the Newell Highway in the NSW Central West, you can experience freshly prepared meals and sample locally made produce in the tranquil surrounds.

The modern cafe ambiance combined with the mesmorising view of the radio telescope and tranquil surrounds provides a completely unique experience.

Our all-day menu offers a selection of freshly prepared meals including our signature dishes which are baked daily, beef and red wine pies and scones with blackberry jam. There is also a selection of burgers, wraps, melts, soups, salads and thickly cut sandwiches.
